LOS VAN VAN Welcome Party
Have a fun with LOS VAN VAN!
A welcome party for Los Van Van who will return to Japan for the first time in 13 years.
You can dance to the live music of Filomela, who has a wide repertoire based on Cuban jazz, and Café Amarillo, a timba band from Fukuoka. Also Mike & Sakina, dancers from Shanghai, and Tiempo dance instructors, Carlos Realpe & Yuka will present their dances. Of course, we will have a guest DJ for you to dance to the fullest with Los Van Van on the eve of ISLA DE SALSA.

Lecture by Samuel Formell "Challenges of LOS VAN VAN in its 50 years"
Los Van Van has been revolutionizing Cuban music since its foundation as they say that Cuban music has a before and after Los Van Van. How was the orchestra changing the traditional rhythms of Cuba? How has Los Van Van orchestra been transformed in its 50 years of history?
Samuel Formell, the son of the founder of Los Van Van, Juan Formel and the current general director of the orchestra, is going to tell us about these questions with some demonstrations.
