Kiiyamashouten

(Rock / Pop)

Kiiyamashouten is an entertainment band from Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, formed by three relatives—brothers Ryosa and Masto, and their cousin Dai-chan. The group’s name comes from the small snack shop once run by their three grandmothers on Ishigaki, which remained open until 2015.

Formed in 2008, the band gained major attention during a training camp in Okinawa in 2011, which led to a featured appearance in a nationwide TV commercial for FamilyMart Okinawa.

In 2013, they released Okaeri Painushima, the promotional song for Ishigaki’s new airport, as a collaboration unit with BEGIN called “Bigiyama Shoten.” Later that year, their song Kachashi☆Boogie was featured on NHK’s Minna no Uta, making them known throughout Japan.

In 2015, they became regulars on the BS Fuji TV program be Ponkickies, performing alongside the beloved characters Gachapin and Mukku.

In 2021, they released the mini-album Akasatana, fully produced by longtime friend Naoto Inti Raymi. The title track Kiiyama no Akasatana reached No.1 on Japan’s cable music request charts in May, and its music video—featuring a popular Okinawan TikToker—became a viral hit.

To mark the 50th anniversary of Okinawa’s reversion to Japan in 2022, they released the single Shurayoi, which gained wide attention from traditional Eisa dance groups across the country. That same year, they launched the 8-city Shurayoi Tour: Kono Koe Hitotsu ni Nare.

In August 2023, they participated in Romantic Flight: A Kome Kome Club Tribute Album, performing a lively Okinawan “chanpuru”-style version of Roman Hikō that had fans dancing along.

Each member writes and composes songs, delivering an eclectic mix of humorous family-themed tracks, dialect-filled comic songs, emotional ballads, and high-energy anthems. Their lively MCs and powerful stage presence captivate audiences of all ages across Japan.
