Headliner
Septeto Santiaguero: 31 Years of Evolution and Cuban Tradition
Septeto Santiaguero, two-time Latin Grammy winners and a definitive icon of Cuban son, returns to Japan to celebrate their 31st anniversary. Carrying the vibrant spirit of Santiago de Cuba, the eight-piece ensemble led by Fernando Dewar revitalizes genres such as son, guaracha, and bolero. Moving away from pure nostalgia, they deliver a powerful, contemporary sound that captivates audiences across all generations.
Through fresh arrangements, deep basslines, and the rhythmic pulse of the tres, the group proves that tradition remains alive and vital today. With three decades of excellence and a history of collaborations with salsa legends, this long-awaited return is more than just a concert—it is the ultimate celebration of their musical mastery. Don’t miss this scorching grand finale to the summer!
What´s "ISLA DE SALSA"?
Our Vision
Leave the city. Find the world beat.
When cultures connect, “Matsuri” magic sparks.
When you think of summer in Fukuoka, the first thing that comes to mind is Isla de Salsa, right?
When people hear “Isla de Salsa,” many immediately think of Latin music and dance. But the inspiration goes further: it was born from the vibrant mix that salsa represents—both the dance, full of rhythm and passion, and the sauce, where diverse ingredients blend to create something unique.
This festival celebrates exactly that: fusion and cultural encounters. Since its very first edition, it has brought together artists and audiences from around the world, creating unforgettable moments of discovery and connection.
For its 27th edition, ISLA DE SALSA continues its spirit of "mixing to create." This year, every participant remains the most essential ingredient—bringing their own unique spice to our collective celebration on Nokonoshima.
This festival wouldn’t be complete without you — you're an essential part of the mix.
The stage: Nokonoshima Beach, just 10 minutes by ferry from Fukuoka City. Palm trees, sand, and an irresistible tropical vibe. Music from around the globe, dances that move you, flavors that awaken the senses, art—and most of all, people eager to connect.
Let yourself be carried away by the rhythms of the world.
Dance, chat, savor. Cross cultural borders without leaving the sand.
Isla de Salsa is a unique festival that distills the best of human connection: creativity, freedom, and joy.
And you? What spice will you bring to our salsa this year?
"World Beat Matsuri"
In Japan, there is an ancient belief that gods dwell in all things in nature — a worldview known as Yaoyorozu no Kami (“eight million gods”).
Matsuri (Japanese festivals) are not simply entertainment; they are moments to give thanks to nature and the gods, to share hopes and joys. They are acts that help nurture and enrich the community.
We chose the Japanese word Matsuri as a subtitle because we feel a deep connection with the spirit of Japanese festivals.
We hope that Isla de Salsa becomes a place where people and cultures connect — and where something new can be born.
