Born in Fukuoka, Japan, and raised by classical musician parents, Kyo-Jun grew up immersed in the performing arts.
A disciple of Jiang Peng, he is one of the few Japanese performers to formally inherit the traditional Sichuan Opera art of Bianlian (face-changing). Known for both delicate and powerful expression, he remains faithful to its traditional performance forms.
He has performed at major events in Japan and abroad, including the Nagasaki Lantern Festival and official events of the Chinese Consulate-General.
In 2023, he became the first Japanese Bianlian performer to perform in Sichuan, the birthplace of the art. In 2025, he appeared at Chengdu’s renowned Sichuan Opera venue, “Ba Guo Bu Yi,” and inherited the traditional technique of Bianlian Puppetry.
Dedicated to Bianlian not merely as a technique but as a true traditional art form, he continues to explore new expressions while advancing its practice in Japan.
