Soluna

(Okinawa Latin)

Soluna is a Latin-Okinawan duo formed in 2007 by vocalist Micky and guitarist Shinji — partners in both music and life. Their name, combining Sol (sun) and Luna (moon), reflects their concept: music that sometimes burns with passion, sometimes shines gently, but always touches the heart.

Blending their Latin music roots with the essence of Okinawan traditional sounds, their unique groove crosses genres and generations. From kids to adults, their songs invite everyone to dance, sing, and smile — even if you don’t know the lyrics or the moves. That is their magic.

In 2020, their signature song “Tinsagu nu Hana Sevillanas” fused the Okinawan folk tune with the flamenco style Sevillanas, sparking buzz in the Japanese flamenco scene. It ranked in the Top 5 on iTunes Japan’s World and Latin charts.

In 2023, they were invited to perform at the 48th JAPAN WEEK in Seville, Spain — the birthplace of flamenco — where all four of their performances received an enthusiastic response from the Spanish audience.

Beyond music, Soluna is active in community projects, kids’ workshops, and media, including composing CM and TV theme songs in Okinawa. Their upcoming album Alegría (2024) is inspired by their experience in Spain and continues their journey of musical fusion across cultures.
