Soluna

(Okinawa Latin)

Soluna is a Latin duo formed in 2007 by vocalist Micky, who is Okinawan with Peruvian heritage, and guitarist Shinji, a Hiroshima native and proud “uchinā-mūkū” (Okinawan son-in-law). After leaving the salsa band KACHIMBA1551, the two became partners in life and music, and founded Soluna.
Their name combines Sol (sun) and Luna (moon), symbolizing their mission to create music that lights the heart — sometimes with fiery passion, sometimes with gentle warmth.
They have released six albums to date and have been actively performing across Okinawa, mainland Japan, and internationally (Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Spain). With a sound that blends Latin, Okinawan, and Spanish elements, they have crafted a unique style they call "Okinawan Latin".

In 2020, their song “Tinsagu nu Hana Sevillanas” — a fusion of the Okinawan folk tune and the flamenco dance Sevillanas — became a sensation in Japan’s flamenco scene, reaching the Top 5 on iTunes Japan (World & Latin charts). In 2023, they were invited by the city of Seville to perform at the 48th JAPAN WEEK, where their Okinawa–Flamenco fusion received standing ovations.
Their performances range from simple acoustic sets to high-energy collaborations with salsa dancers, flamenco artists, and Okinawan eisa performers, bringing excitement and cultural richness to festivals and events.
